Mini-facelift/S-lift Surgery in London

There are many alternative techniques to reposition and tighten the skin and soft tissue structures of the face. One of the most significant recent developments in facial aesthetic surgery is the ability to limit the scarring. These procedures are known by various names such as the mini facelift, and the S-lift.

What is a mini facelift?

A mini-facelift is a lift that repositions the skin and soft tissues of the face that have been affected by the aging process. The principle difference between a mini- lift and other types of facelift is that the mini- lift features a significantly reduced scar burden. The scarring in the crease behind the ear and in the hairline behind the ear is largely or completely eliminated.

Where are the incisions for a mini-facelift?

The incisions and ultimately the scars for a mini- lift begin in the temporal hair area and are extend downward, in front of the ear to the earlobe. Sometimes the incision can extend behind the earlobe or slightly behind the ear. The choice of placing the scar in the crease just in front of the ear or within the ear itself is determined by individual patient anatomy. An alternative incision is to place the incision along the temporal hairline, rather than within the temporal hair.

Who are the best candidates for a mini-facelift?

The mini- facelift is particularly suitable on younger patients in their thirties, forties and sometimes fifties. It can be combined with liposuction in the neck area or blepharoplasty to give a remarkable overall improvement.

What is the recovery time?

You should be up and about in a day or two, but plan on taking it easy for the first week after surgery. At the beginning, your face may look and feel rather strange. Your features may be a little swollen and your facial movements may be slightly stiff. Some bruising may persist for two or three weeks. By the third week, you'll look and feel much better. Most patients are back at work about ten days to two weeks after surgery. Avoid strenuous activity, including sex and heavy housework, for at least two weeks. Above all, get plenty of rest and allow your body to spend its energy on healing.

What can I expect from the surgery?

Having a mini-facelift facelift doesn't stop the clock. Your face will continue to age with time, in another sense, the effects of even one facelift are lasting; years later, you'll continue to look better. You will find that the loose skin will be reduced giving the face a much softer, refreshed and younger look.
