Hymen Repair Surgery in London

The hymen normally gets disrupted after a woman has had sexual intercourse or even after strenuous physical activity or tampon use. Sometimes, for cultural or other personal reasons (for example, an upcoming marriage), a woman would like to restore a more intact, tighter hymenal ring and experience vaginal bleeding and pain with the "first" sexual intercourse.

Using a special surgical technique, our expert cosmetic and board-certified Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon surgeon, Dr. Yannis Alexandrides, with over 10 years experience, performs hymen repair surgery to tighten and restore the hymen to a more intact, virgin-like state. Because of a wide variation among hymenal and vaginal states, Dr Alexandrides customizes the hymen repair surgery or hymenoplasty to the individual needs and expectations of the patient, as are discussed during the required pre-surgical consultation and thorough gynaecological examination. In most cases, the hymen repair surgery or hymenoplasty is virtually undetectable after complete healing, and our patients have been extremely pleased with Dr. Alexandrides amazing, very natural-looking hymen repair surgery results.  Dr. Alexandrides also performs expert labial reduction surgery (labiaplasty) and clitoral hood reduction surgery for patients with enlarged, hypertrophic, or asymmetrical labia minora, labia majora, and/or clitoral hood, as well as vaginal rejuvenation surgery (vaginoplasty, vaginal tightening) for patients with vaginal looseness. We maintain the utmost in patient confidentiality. Patients must have a pre-surgical consultation and thorough gynaecological examination prior to the surgery. Individual needs and expectations are discussed at this time. Patients are individually counselled and educated on what to expect, including possible risks, benefits, and options. The surgery is usually performed under local anaesthesia (awake). Patients may choose conscious sedation to help them feel more relaxed and comfortable. General anaesthesia is an option for some patients. After the surgery, it is recommended to avoid sex, tampons, and douching for six weeks. Patients should return to the office six weeks after the surgery for a follow-up exam.
