Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation with Dr Yannis Alexandrides. He will take time to understand your concerns, medical history, lifestyle and desired result, alongside a detailed assessment of your nasal anatomy, size, projection, width, profile, symmetry, facial proportions and breathing where relevant.

This allows Dr Yannis Alexandrides to determine whether Reduction Rhinoplasty is appropriate for you and create a personalised surgical plan designed to reduce and refine the nose while maintaining natural harmony with your individual facial features. Where functional concerns are present, these will also be considered as part of your assessment and surgical plan.

Ahead of surgery, you will have a comprehensive pre-operative assessment with our nursing team. This includes a review of your medical history, current medications, lifestyle and overall health, alongside any physical assessment or clinical tests required for your individual surgical plan.

Our team will explain what to expect before and after surgery, answer any questions and ensure you are appropriately prepared for your procedure and recovery.

Good nutrition, hydration and healthy lifestyle habits can help prepare your body for surgery and support the healing process. You will receive personalised guidance on diet, medications, exercise, smoking cessation where appropriate, and practical preparation before your procedure.

Every recommendation is tailored to your individual health, lifestyle and surgical plan to ensure your preparation is appropriate for you.

Preparing the skin and tissues forms an important part of our 360° approach. Ahead of your procedure, our team may recommend a personalised programme to optimise skin and tissue quality and prepare you for surgery.

Where appropriate, this may include LPG Endermologie®, ElixirMD Light Therapy, 111SKIN skincare or Dr Yannis Alexandrides’ Dramatic Healing Serum, selected according to your individual skin, tissues and surgical plan.

Our care continues well beyond your procedure. Following Reduction Rhinoplasty, our clinical team will monitor your healing through scheduled reviews, with particular attention to swelling, nasal healing, breathing where relevant and the developing shape and proportions of the nose.

You will receive personalised guidance on splint care, sleeping position, skincare, activity and protecting the nose during the early stages of recovery. Where appropriate, an IV drip or other post-operative support may also form part of your individual aftercare programme.

As your recovery progresses, Dr Yannis Alexandrides and our clinical team will review your nasal shape, symmetry, proportions, facial balance and overall healing at scheduled follow-up appointments.

Where appropriate, LPG Endermologie®, ElixirMD Light Therapy, personalised skincare or selected treatments may be recommended to support tissue quality, scar maturation where relevant and the continued refinement of your result.

Procedure

How does Reduction Rhinoplasty work?

Reduction Rhinoplasty works by carefully removing or reshaping bone and cartilage while preserving strength, support and natural function – this may involve reducing a prominent bridge, removing a dorsal hump, straightening the profile or refining the nasal tip. Dr Yannis may recommend either an Open or Closed approach depending on the structural changes required. Where indicated, ultrasonic Piezo technology allows the nasal bones to be sculpted with remarkable precision while minimising trauma to surrounding tissues, contributing to less bruising, swelling and a smoother recovery.

Recovery Timeline

1–2 Weeks

Initial swelling, bruising and tenderness progressively subside as the nose begins to heal. Your nasal splint will be removed as advised by your surgical team, and you will receive personalised guidance on proper skincare, nasal care, sleeping position and protecting the nose during this early stage of recovery.

2–6 Weeks

Swelling continues to reduce and the refined shape and proportions of the nose become increasingly visible. Our Lead Nurse will explain how to tape your nose correctly at night to help reduce swelling and support the tissues as they continue to settle. Everyday activity can progressively increase, with exercise gradually reintroduced according to your recovery and the guidance of your surgical team.

6 Weeks–6 Months

The nasal tissues continue to settle and the contours of the bridge and tip become progressively more refined. Residual swelling, particularly around the nasal tip, can continue to resolve gradually throughout this period, with your progress monitored at scheduled follow-up appointments.

6–12 Months

The longer-term shape and proportions of the nose become increasingly established as the tissues continue to settle and refine. Depending on the extent of surgery and individual healing, subtle changes may continue beyond this period.

Long-Term Care

  A Wonderful Experience I decided to explore a Y Facelift after becoming increasingly unhappy with the loss of definition around my lower face. I had plastic surgery from doctor Ashvani in 2019 and he messed up my tummy completely. I lost all my sensation in my tummy area and after 7 years, I still regret of having tummy tuck with him. He stitched my whole tummy tuck area without leaving drainage after the operation. I ended up having this massive hole in my tummy area. I have the most horrible scars and I don’t wear bikini for not showing my belly button. You can see how bad his stitches are from the photo. Please do your research before you trust him so you don’t regret like I did. My friend had similar operation in Turkey and you would not even notice she had plastic surgery.my advice is  go to Turkey to have proper plastic surgery with surgeons who knows how do operate.

Will my nose look too small?

No. The goal of Reduction Rhinoplasty is balance, not excessive reduction. Dr Yannis carefully plans every procedure to ensure your nose remains proportionate to your facial features and looks entirely natural.

Can a large dorsal hump be completely removed?

In many cases, yes. The amount of reduction possible depends on your anatomy, skin thickness and the structural support required to maintain both appearance and breathing. This will be discussed during your consultation.

What is the difference between Reduction Rhinoplasty and standard Rhinoplasty?

Reduction Rhinoplasty specifically focuses on decreasing the size, projection or prominence of the nose. While it uses many of the same surgical techniques as Primary Rhinoplasty, its emphasis is on refinement through reduction rather than reshaping alone.

Will my breathing be affected?

Preserving normal breathing is a fundamental part of every Rhinoplasty performed by Dr Yannis Alexandrides If structural issues affecting your airway are identified, these can often be corrected during the same procedure.

Is ultrasonic Piezo surgery used during Reduction Rhinoplasty?

Where appropriate, yes. Piezo technology allows highly precise sculpting of the nasal bones while reducing unnecessary trauma to surrounding soft tissues. This can contribute to less bruising, swelling and a smoother recovery.

When can I return to normal exercise?

Gentle walking is encouraged shortly after surgery. More strenuous activities should generally be avoided for around six weeks to protect the healing nasal structures.

How long before I see the final result?

Most patients notice improvements once the splint is removed. However, the nose continues to refine for up to 12-18 months as residual swelling gradually resolves.

Can Reduction Rhinoplasty be combined with other facial procedures?

Yes. Depending on your facial proportions and aesthetic goals, Reduction Rhinoplasty may be combined with procedures such as Chin Implant Surgery, Lip Lift, Facial Fat Transfer or Blepharoplasty to achieve greater overall facial harmony.
