Otherwise known as a ‘Platelet Rich Plasma’ Facial, it involves withdrawing the platelets from your blood. Platelets contain a high level of alpha granules that are effective in wound healing, and by triggering the body into damage control the result improves skin’s elasticity, volume and texture.
The PRP is re-injected into the face with a fine needle, in turn stimulating collagen and elastin production, which results in a significant increase in skin’s elasticity and firmness.
What is involved in the process is that when the blood is drawn and placed into a centrifuge, it separates the blood into 3 succinct layers – plasma (on top), blood cells and platelets (middle) and red blood cells (bottom). This then makes it easier to extract the platelets (PRP) and is then effectively re-introduced into the skin to stimulate cell turnover.
