What is a Mono Thread Lift?

A Mono Thread Lift is a minimally-invasive aesthetic treatment that uses ultra-fine threads to lift and tighten sagging skin, particularly the lower face where jowling can appear and beneath the chin, which can often show early signs of ageing. These nano threads are inserted just beneath the surface of the skin using a fine needle and cannula, where they naturally stimulate collagen production to restore a firmer, smoother contour.

The Mono Threads are made from a smooth thread (unlike other threads which have micro-cones or can be called ‘barbed threads’) and stimulates facial tissue to produce collagen and has volumising effects. The difference between smooth and ‘barbed’ Soft Threads are that the smooth thread works work mainly to stimulate collagen, while the barbed ones are used to achieve a more dramatic lift.

One of the benefits of smooth threads are they can ensure much smoother entry when placed in the skin. The threads themselves are made of bio-compatible fibres consisting of polymers which are chains of molecules or materials: Mono Thread Lifts are made of polydioxanone (PDO) which has collagen-stimulating effects once absorbed by the body.

Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation with Head of Non-Surgical Department. During this appointment, we’ll discuss your aesthetic goals, assess your skin and chin area, and determine if Mono Threads are the right option for you. They will explain the procedure in detail and answer any questions you may have, ensuring you are fully informed before moving forward. Then once your suitability has been confirmed, you’ll meet your Aesthetic Nurse and book your first treatment, often this can be done immediately after your consult.

Preparation

On the day of your treatment, your Nurse Prescriber will clean and mark the treatment areas to ensure accuracy. A local anaesthetic will be injected to ensure you are comfortable throughout the procedure.

Thread Insertion

Using a fine needle called a cannula, the Mono Threads will be carefully inserted beneath the skin along the jawline and under the chin. These threads are designed to lift the skin and promote collagen production, creating a smoother, tighter contour. The procedure typically takes around 30-60 minutes.

Post-Treatment Care

After the procedure, you can expect a mild redness or slight swelling in the treated area, but these effects usually subside within a few hours to a day. Our Nurse Prescriber will provide aftercare instructions to help you maintain optimal results.
