Pregnancy can be both a memorable time and nerve-wracking at the best of times, and when you introduce surgical procedures into the mix, they are bound to raise questions of concern. Putting your mind at ease, we walk through the solution around breast implants and pregnancy.
Do Breast Implants Affect Pregnancy?
No, you can have a safe and happy pregnancy regardless of your breast implants or breast augmentation.
Can Breasts Change During Pregnancy?
Each body is different, and you may notice other changes from person to person. The breast tissue and skin may change, meaning it can become looser or firmer, regardless of an implant.
Is there a way that this can be avoided?
We recommend that you maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle with doctor-recommended exercises.
Do I need to remove breast implants before pregnancy?
Currently, there is no medical advice suggesting breast implants should be removed before pregnancy. If you are already pregnant, NO surgical procedure is recommended.
Do implants sag after pregnancy?
While implants don’t alter during or after pregnancy, new changes such as milk lactation, hormones, weight gain and loss may alter the shape and size of the breast.
Can breastfeeding be difficult after breast enhancement?
While many don’t experience any change or difficulty due to the implant sitting beneath the tissue, some may experience hardship if the implant has been inserted through the nipple and areola – this can cause damage to the ducts and possibly reduce milk supply.
Breast Augmentation after pregnancy?
Before any work on the breasts, we recommend 6-12 months after you’ve finished breastfeeding before considering any work on the breasts for the best results. Concerns such as excess skin, sagging, or a size change can be altered during breast augmentation, but we advise time between breastfeeding so your body can find a balance.
