Dermapen

The Dermapen treatment usually begins with the application of a topical numbing cream. Using a hand-held pen-like device, the nurse will then make several passes over the entire face.

The Dermapen treatment is best for those with:

• Rough skin texture
• Acne scars or other types of scarring
• Pigmentation
• Fine lines
• Large pores
• Uneven skin tone
• Stretch marks

The treatment results will continue to improve with each treatment. You may see enhancement in the skin after around six weeks following your initial treatment, as the skin starts to synthesise collagen and elastin. It typically takes about three treatments to start noticing visible changes in the skin.

The collagen inducing Dermapen creates virtually invisible micro-injuries in the skin that ignite the body’s healing and regenerative processes. This influx of collagen and elastin and release of growth factors results in an improvement of overall skin smoothness, suppleness, and strength.

Additionally, the micro-channels allow for optimal absorption of active ingredients to enhance their results and increase their efficiency.

The condition and texture of your skin will continue to improve with each treatment you have, and the results are long-lasting. We recommend regular treatments to maintain results in addition to following a prescriptive skincare regime and treatment programme as advised by your practitioner.

Immediately after the treatment, you may notice tiny pinpricks of blood. The nurse will usually pat the face down after which point; the skin will no longer draw blood.

Your skin may be red for up to 24 hours and will gradually resolve throughout the following week. It may also feel a little rough, warm and dry for the first couple of days after your treatment and may begin to flake.

We recommend 4-6 treatment sessions. Every four weeks.

Once the topical numbing cream has been applied, a patient typically won’t feel any pain.

The Dermapen is powered by a small motor that allows the needles to stamp across the skin. Dermarolling, however, rolls across the skin, increasing the risk of tearing and scarring.

The dermapen is also able to penetrate at a deeper level to optimise treatment results. It is an advanced and safer form of microneedling/dermarolling that provides enhanced results.
