Mole Removal could be an option for those looking to remove skin imperfections such as moles, skin tags and cysts. Moles are usually benign, but they can occasionally be indicative of skin cancer. The removal of a mole can be for aesthetic reasons, or if it’s irritating. You can also remove it as a precautionary measure if there’s a possibility that the mole could be cancerous.

    Mole / Skin Tag FAQs

The surgical approach to removing the mole will depend on their depth and size. It’s a very straightforward and efficient process.

Mole removal doesn’t require general anaesthesia, and we can operate within our safe, clean and sterile clinical facilities.

We will numb the area with a topical anaesthetic. The procedure itself shouldn’t be painful as we inject Lidocaine before the operation. After this, the surgeon will cut and remove the mole or cyst. Depending on the size of the mole or cyst, you may require a couple of stitches.

Most moles are relatively small at around half an inch, but they can vary in colour, and form in clusters. Some are more prominent and protrude more from the skin and may irritate you. If you’re unhappy with their appearance, you could be a suitable candidate for mole removal.

Mole removal is also a suitable option for those who have concerns about the appearance of their mole. While most moles are completely harmless, when a mole aggressively changes size, shape or colour they may be and more likely to develop into malignant melanoma.

Having more than 50 moles or a mole since birth (that can sometimes grow unusually large) can also indicate you have a higher chance of developing skin cancer. In this case, we can remove the mole and send it off for testing.

Other skin tags and cysts (including milia) are noncancerous, but you may dislike their appearance, and we can effectively remove them in a quick procedure.

The incision itself can take two to three weeks to heal.

There is minimal downtime after mole removal. Patients can return to their regular activities within a week and return to work within a week.

Mole removal or cyst removal usually takes around 30 minutes.

There may be a very small scar that remains after the surgery, but it’s usually virtually invisible.
