A Revision Rhinoplasty is a surgery performed on those who have had a Rhinoplasty previously and wish to improve the appearance of their nose.

This is often called a Secondary Rhinoplasty and can be a complex operation, requiring great surgical skill from your Plastic Surgeon, due to the increased delicacy of the nose skin and cartilage.

How does a Revision Rhinoplasty work?

A Revision Rhinoplasty works to resolve any aesthetic concerns you have with your original Rhinoplasty result. You can expect your surgeon to alter the cartilage, perhaps removing or trimming parts of it, if there is an issue with an unliked bump or scar tissue. They may also make bigger structural changes to the nasal bone or make grafts (soft tissue taken from another part of the body) to give the nose more support or shape.

The technique and plan for your nose job revision will be discussed and created for you by your surgeon. It will be completely shaped around resolving your aesthetic concern and the best way to meet your expectation for your Secondary Rhinoplasty.

    Is Revision Rhinoplasty dangerous?

With all surgeries there is a degree of risk involved, however this is reduced when you choose an experienced, board-certified Plastic Surgeon.

A Revision Rhinoplasty, by itself, is not a dangerous procedure. It can present the surgeon with certain challenges to overcome, but with a thorough surgical plan, this procedure can be performed seamlessly.

So, no, a nose job revision is not dangerous, but can be difficult. Factors such as skin quality, scar tissue and deficient cartilage, have to be taken into consideration and often mean that a delicate surgical approach is required.

Dr Yannis, would be the surgeon performing your Revision Rhinoplasty and as our triple board-certified Plastic Surgeon, he is highly skilled in Reconstructive Surgery.

    Revision Rhinoplasty FAQs

A Revision Rhinoplasty is not free for new patients of Dr Yannis. If you are a current patient of ours, please review our Patient Promise which outlines our policy on revisions and more.

Recovery can be different for each patient, and Rhinoplasties – in general – take a long time to heal fully. With Revision Rhinoplasty, the visible signs of surgery (like bruising and swelling) can take around 2-3 weeks to diminish fully. Internal healing can take longer, from 6 months upwards.

To maintain the highest levels of safety, we usually ask our patients to wait for one year before we perform a Revision Rhinoplasty. This is because it can take 12 months or more for your nose to fully settle into its new position and for its new look to present itself.

A Revision Rhinoplasty can be performed on those who have more than one nose job, but this will be confirmed after Dr Yannis has examined the nose. In the past, Dr Yannis has performed Secondary and Tertiary Rhinoplasties.

Yes, you can. You do not have to go to the same Plastic Surgeon that performed your first Rhinoplasty.

If you could give your new Plastic Surgeon your original operation notes they will be able to see what was exactly done on the day by your previous surgeon, and this will help them visual a plan rectify it.

I really think highly of the aesthetic judgement of the nurse in 111Harley street as I received non-surgical rhinoplasty there. It’s very natural, not exaggerated. And the service there is excellent! It’s friendly to foreign customer since Miss Bonnie is a brilliant and patient interpreter.

I underwent a open Septorhinoplasty on the 9th of January. I turned 25 a few days before my op I couldn’t think of a better way to start a new decade and chapter in my life. This is something I really wanted done for ten years and I’m really happy I finally got round to getting it done. 3 weeks post op currently and I can’t wait to see how the remaining 12 months go.
