Our Near Infrared Therapy (NIR) is one of the many treatments we offer from our Harmony XL Pro machine and stands out because of its painless skin tightening effects. After each treatment, you can expect smoother, plumper, and glowing skin, and in the long-term, an unparalleled firmness and flawlessness in tone and texture that keeps getting better as the treatments go on.
NIR is one of our advanced devices and offers a non-surgical alternative to more invasive skin tightening treatments, such as RF Microneedling or a Facelift. With it’s almost infrared light emitted from a hand-piece that simply glides across the skin, it is both relaxing and efficacious.
Before any NIR treatment, you’ll first have a consultation either with our Head of Non-Surgical Department or the Aesthetician that will be treating your skin. It’s during this time your suitability for an infrared light facial treatment will be confirmed, or another more effective route will be outlined for you.
Once your consultation is complete, your treatment can then begin!
This will involve your Aesthetician gently cleansing your face, removing any impurities or bacteria before applying an oil-based product on your skin. This will ensure the NIR hand-piece can move silkily across the skin, and doesn’t rub or pull the skin.
Your Aesthetician will then begin the treatment, where the settings of the device can be tailored by intensity and light energy can be altered to your needs. They will treat the across the lower face, jawline and neck where the high-powered light of a near infrared spectrum that delivers a targeted skin tightening effect that is safe and effective. You can expect your skin to feel a little warm, where one patient described it as ‘a bath for your face’, and this is a good sign of dermal heating which stimulates the formation of new collagen.
This is a great treatment for skin that is lacking in firmness, vitality and looks dull, as it leaves you with an all-over fresh and plump glow alongside a skin tightening effect, in the long term.
It is suitable for all skin types so everyone can benefit from an NIR treatment.
Using Harmony XL Pro laser and it’s iconic ‘Advanced Fluorescent Technology called ‘AFT’, our Near Infrared Therapy disperses energy into the sub-dermal tissue, gradually heating way past the skin’s top layer where the light is barely visible to the naked eye.
It’s precise hand-piece works to contract and tighten the skin’s fibres. The tissue is heated, but not destroyed, so it kick-starts cellular repair and collagen production. Unlike other treatments, the top layer of skin is completely unaffected. At the most, some users experience mild redness that fades quickly and it feels just slightly warm during treatment.
You may start to see an improvement in your skin texture and tone immediately after your first treatment though you will require a number of treatments to experience optimal benefits.
The treatment takes from around 20 minutes to an hour.
Some redness and dryness can be expected afterwards and these all good signs that your treatment is working to stimulate cell turnover and renew your complexion.
We recommend 4-6 treatment sessions.
A Near Infrared Facial is not considered a painful treatment, a lot of patients experience warmth on the skin – which they usually find quite relaxing.
