What does a Brow Lift target?

A Brow Lift works by repositioning and lifting the eyebrows which can help give you a more awakened, youthful appearance.

It’s a cosmetic decision to make for those looking to improve the appearance of sagging, drooping eyelids, (which as time goes on can hinder your vision), soften the appearance of static wrinkles, resolve hooded eyes and asymmetry.

A brow lift is ideal for targeting:

Sagging or excess skin on their upper eyelids that is impairing vision

Brow ptosis

Deep worry lines across forehead (also known as glabellar lines)

Asymmetry of the eyebrows

Those looking to improve shape, symmetry, and elevation of their brows

How does a Brow Lift work?

A Brow Lift, also known as a forehead lift or eye lift, works by making incisions on the top of the head, a few millimetres along the hairline or just within it.

Once these incisions are made, our top London Plastic Surgeon, Dr Yannis Alexandrides, will have access to the tissue and muscles that he will then be able to gently lift, remove excess skin and reposition the eyebrows – which will help tighten the forehead too. Dr Yannis will then place sutures within the skin – which is a type of sterile silk thread – to augment the muscles beneath the brows, which is how he will get the desired rejuvenated and elevated result.

The incision made is called a coronal incision which usually starts around the ear level and runs across the forehead and down the other side of the head which is often hidden beneath the hairline for your discretion.

How does an Endoscopic Brow Lift Work?

An Endoscopic Brow Lift, often referred to as a keyhole surgery, produces similar results to a traditional Brow Lift but is much less invasive. It works by using an fibre-optic instrument called an endoscope which is able to examine the skin or body without being near the desired surgery site. Then, a Bipolar tool is used to remove and alter the tissues.

The best thing about the Endoscopic Brow Lift, therefore, is that thanks to the adoption of these advanced micro-instruments, it usually requires just two small incisions either side of the hairline around an inch in length. This means the risk of visible scarring is dramatically reduced.

Who is the ideal candidate for an Endoscopic Brow Lift?

Although mostly performed on patients in their 40-60’s who are experiencing the effects of gravity and signs of ageing more prominently, the ideal candidate can be of any age (of course they must be an adult over 18), who is looking to improve the appearance of developing furrows and frown lines which may have been exacerbated by stress or muscle over-activity.

Individuals with inherited conditions, such as a low, heavy brows or furrowed lines can also achieve a more alert and refreshed look with this procedure. Forehead lift and brow lift surgery are often performed in conjunction with a facelift to provide a smoother overall look to the face.

Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) is a popular combination procedure with a Brow Lift which is usually performed at the same time to enhance your final result. Sometimes, when patients are seeking a Blepharoplasty, they may often find that after a consultation with Dr Yannis, that a Brow Lift would help them achieve their surgical goals further.
