What’s the difference between Dermal Filler and Profhilo?
If there are two treatments that come across as similar but have marginal differences to note, it would be Profhilo and HA Dermal Filler. Both are focused on treating and target age-related skin concerns but with importantly different approaches and results. Discover the differences between the leading technologies.
What are Profhilo and Dermal Fillers?
Profhilo is a skin-luminosity treatment that uses the advanced properties of hyaluronic acid to hydrate and restore the skin. Injected at 5 different points, each side of the face, it focuses on restoring and boosting lax and depleted skin for a volumised result. Dermal Fillers, (also made from hyaluronic acid but also combined with other substances) is injected into the face to modify and contour areas of the face.
What is the difference between the two?
Well, the first thing to note about the differences between Profhilo and Dermal Fillers, is the substance themselves. Hyaluronic acid used in Profhilo is vastly thinner in comparison to Dermal Fillers as well as being a purified form of the superhouse ingredient. In addition, the thicker substance that goes alongside the HA in Dermal Fillers is necessary to help maintain the volume in the skin.
Another important difference to note is that the two actually work in different ways, Profhilo works as a shot of intense hydration that disperses underneath the skin to enhance the volume. Dermal Filler, once injected, maintains its position as a more viscous consistency. As a property of Dermal Filler is to maintain its position, it means the filler actually can only be held in certain areas of the face such as the lips, eyes or jawline to enhance definition, whereas Profhilo can be used anywhere on the face to enhance volume and plumpness.
What treatment is used for what concern?
Now that the differences have been established, you can find that experts recommend using the two treatments rather differently. Profhilo is often recommended to intensely hydrate and moisturise the skin whilst minimising skin laxity and dermal fillers are used for a loss of volume in the skin.
