Breast Implant Change (Re-Augmentation)

Also referred to as a ‘second boob job’, a Breast Re-Augmentation involves removing your initial implants and any scar tissue that may have formed on the skin and replacing them with a new type of implant that can differ in shape and size.

*A Breast Re-Augmentation Implant can differ depending on the implant and fat transfer results, which can be discussed during the consultation process.

Here are some signs you may benefit from a Re-Augmentation:

  • A gap has formed between your breasts because your implants have moved.
  • Your implants have started to rotate and look uneven.
  • They have become hard to touch and misshapen.
  • You are no longer happy with the size and shape

What are the next steps?

Once you have decided that you are unhappy with your implants, you will book a consultation with our specialist, Dr Reza Alamouti. In this consultation, you will discuss your concerns and desires while Dr Reza will decide the best course of action regarding implant type. This consultation is also available for you to discuss size and shape preferences and any other questions you may have in mind.

BOOK YOUR CONSULTATION NOW

During the procedure and under general anaesthetic, Dr Reza will replace the existing implant(s) with the new one(s).

He will also remove the existing internal scar tissue and old implant pockets and re-insert the implant through the original incision area, eliminating any additional scarring.

Re-Augmentation Recovery

While surgery time for re-augmentation is sometimes longer, recovery is often smoother than the first. You’ll be recommended to spend an overnight stay while our surgical consultants monitor you as the anaesthetic wears off. With Breast Implant Removal or replacement, you can expect a similar recovery time as your first Breast Augmentation.

We recommend wearing a compression garment to help the body heal further and generally, the recovery time is between 4-6 weeks. Expect bruising and swelling for up to 2 weeks post-surgery and full recovery in just 6 weeks.

Breast Implant Removal

Whether replacing your implants with a different type, shape or size, this is referred to as an ‘explant’ and the removal process is similar to an Implant Replacement.

The steps are outlined below:

  • An initial and then extensive consultation is carried out with Dr Reza Alamouti and his team to distinguish and address your concerns, outline the procedure, and answer any questions.
  • On the day of the procedure, anaesthesia is applied.
  • An incision will be made by Dr Reza (avoiding the original incision to minimise scarring) and the breast implant will be removed from the breast capsule (otherwise known as the pocket as to which the implant resided).
  • The incision and capsule will then be closed and dressed with gauze to keep the incision clean.

After a 111 Harley Street Breast Implants Removal, you’ll be advised to rest and will be under observation for at least 24 hours with pain medication. Essential compression garments will be given. The first few days will be uncomfortable, where you’ll probably experience a similar sensation as you did after your initial Breast Augmentation, so please use the experts’ prescribed medicine.

Mr Reza will be readily available to explain how to minimise complications and infections while caring for your body at home.

You can expect your recovery period to last anywhere up to 6 weeks (this time being your post-op assessment). While you can go about your daily activities one week post-operation, we recommend avoiding anything vigorous until Mr Reza has given you the all-clear.

Please avoid:

  • Lifting anything over 5-10 pounds
  • Exercising and working out (besides walking)
  • Sleeping on your stomach or side

The Results

Results can vary from person to person, and a detailed look at your expected outcomes will be discussed during your consultation. We say this because those with smaller breasts are likely to experience less sagging and drooping than those with larger breasts or implants. Yet, those looking for Breast Enlargement in London or more significant Breast Augmentations may require a Breast Lift in conduction with their removal procedure to guarantee no concern of sagging or drooping will be experienced.

We have a team of some of the best Breast Surgeons in London, so no matter your concern, Mr Reza and Dr Yannis will strive to create a look you are extremely satisfied with, one you simply adore.
