Different Types of Scars of Breast Lift

What You Need to Know About Breast Lift Scars

Like any procedure that involves an incision, scarring is bound to occur but with any breast lift surgery that involves a transformative shift including excess skin and tissue being reworked to make them perkier, scarring will need to be as minimal as possible. Whilst the incision may be small, the scar afterwards may be red, risen and rather apparent until totally healed. It is important that you follow the post-surgery aftercare advice told to you by your 111 Harley St. practitioner. Other tips such as avoiding sun exposure, avoiding lifting heavy objects, no smoking or exercise (especially the 6 weeks after surgery) is always strongly recommended.

    DIFFERENT TYPES OF SCARS

Whilst breast lift surgeries may seem quite small in terms of a category, there are in fact a plethora of techniques available as to which our expert doctors will advise you on in your consultation. Discover the breakdown below.

Vertical Scar: A Vertical line down from the bottom of the nipple.

Inverted T: One vertical line pointing down from the nipple and a horizontal line underneath the breast.

Benelli Scar: Positioned around the areola.

    SCARRING VISIBILITY

You may be wondering which scar is more visible and the one that is least visible? The inverted T takes out the most amount of skin and will therefore be the most visible whereas the benelli scar will be the least visible as it is around the nipple. Due to the contrast in colour between the breast flesh and the areola, scarring will fade into the nipple line and will therefore be hardly visible.

Scarring is nothing to be concerned with and is a very normal process after any surgery. If there are any concerns or questions our extremely experienced practitioners are on call to answer any questions you may have.
