What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are something to be excited about – they’re a minimally-invasive way to visibly enhance your complexion without surgery or downtime. What’s not to like? Plus, they’ve become supremely popular in recent years not only for their versatility, but also because of their advanced, safe formulations.

While there are many types of dermal filler injections, the most important thing to look out for when choosing a dermal filler provider is choosing a clinic that endorses established, rigorously tested and FDA-approved brands only. We ensure any of our facial fillers are made from the highest quality hyaluronic acid and natural ingredients.

For those who aren’t familiar with the powers of hyaluronic acid, it occurs naturally in the body and is one of three youth-boosting actives that are essential for taut, supple skin. These being collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.

The biggest benefits of hyaluronic acids-based fillers are:

  • Adds volume and improves the appearance of wrinkles in just one visit
  • It is highly compatible with the skin, dramatically reducing the risk of reaction
  • Hyaluronic acid stimulates collagen activity in the dermal layer of skin, maintaining the results for months afterwards
  • Texture-smoothing: as HA works to retain moisture, it helps optimise your epidermal function as your skin is not fighting against dehydration, letting it produce smoother, plumper skin cells more effortlessly
  • Dermal fillers last longer than Botox or other injectables, and depending on the area and depth, typically last between 6-18 months

Types of Dermal Fillers We Offer

We use three brands of dermal fillers in our 111 Harley Street based clinic. These are:

  • Juvéderm – as the industry-leading distributor of dermal fillers, we have ensured we can target a majority of concerns by endorsing the use of their additional collections, Volux, Volbella, Volift and Voluma.
  • Teoxane Teosyal Redensity 2 – Innovatively created by Teosyal to target one of the most challenging areas, the under-eyes. This dermal filler is less hydrophilic (meaning it does not have a strong water affinity) – meaning it won’t worsen any dark under-eyes.
  • Restylane Lyft – One of the first and only hyaluronic acid FDA-approved fillers to treat your face and hands. Clinical studies show a 95% increase after 2 months.
  • Radiesse – Formed of CaHa (Calcium hydroxyapatite), Radiesse is a unique treatment that provides lasting results. Expect to see results for around a year, so Radiesse is on the end of the typical 6-18 month lasting time.

Which Filler Do I Need?

To restore facial volume in the forehead and sculpt the chin, cheeks and jawline, we recommend Juvéderm Volux. Volux has a unique hyaluronic acid molecular weight, which means it can lift and sculpt more effectively than other dermal fillers – and does not require larger amounts administered.

For any lip augmentation, Juvéderm Volbella is highly recommended. With its ultra-fine formula, it acts as the perfect correction of perioral lines (lines around the mouth), vertical lip lines, or lip wrinkles. It is also powerful enough to redefine and add fullness.

For restoring facial volume across the whole complexion (especially on the forehead) Juvéderm  Volift provides natural looking results thanks to its combination of low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acids. Not only does this improve the efficacy of HA chains, it also produces immediate results that last for around 15 months.

For sagging cheeks, nose reshaping and lower face wrinkles, we recommend Juvéderm Voluma. Voluma is unique because it a more cohesive filler, one that acts as scaffolding to subtly lift, shape and re-volumize the skin.

For the Tear Trough area, it has to be Teoxane Redensity 2, as mentioned earlier it’s the only FDA-approved filler for treating the delicate under-eye area.

If you’re looking to treat an unliked nose, wrinkling hands, laugh lines or lift sagging cheeks, then Restylane Lyft would be your ideal dermal filler treatment. While, Restylane Lyft became popular because of its hand-rejuvenating qualities, it is a convenient treatment for people looking to target two concerns at once, e.g the hands and face.

For moderate to deep lines and nose reshaping, we also offer Radiesse. Radiesse is made of phosphate and calcium (present in CaHA) which are both naturally occurring in the body similarly to hyaluronic acid. One benefit of these fillers compared to HA is that they tend to last longer, which is more suitable for nose reshaping, or anyone looking for less upkeep.
